CONTEXT

 

IECD (Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement) is a French non-governmental organization founded in 1988 and operating in the field of social and economic development in partnership with local institutions. IECD’s main sectors of action are vocational training and professional integration, assistance to micro and small enterprises, and access to education and health for the most vulnerable. In Lebanon, IECD has been operating in the country since 1994 and opened a regional office in Beirut in 2007.

Semeurs d’Avenir (SDA) is a Lebanese association, created in 2010, and registered under the number 1905. It is the operational partner of IECD in Lebanon.

The short trainings intervention aims to bring professional skills to young Lebanese and refugees through short-term (up to 4 months) vocational training programs targeting jobs with higher employment opportunities in the local labor market: construction apprenticeship, maintenance, medical care assistance, esthetic among others. These training programs are combined with a personal development component, which includes community activities and general improvement of personal skills.

 

MISSION

Reporting to the senior placement officer, the junior placement officer will be responsible to:

  1. Placement/career sessions
  • Familiarize oneself with trainees, understanding their experience and professional profiles for placement purposes.
  • Organize, facilitate, and contribute to career sessions for each training.
  1. Finding internship/employment opportunities.
  • Acquire knowledge about training programs and associated competencies.
  • Assist in facilitating communication between trainees and employers.
  • Stay informed about employer/sector needs regarding skills and emerging trends.
  • Contribute to internal market assessments, conduct data analysis, and propose adjustments to curricula or suggest new training specializations.
  • Participate in meetings with existing partners alongside the senior placement officer.
  • Support the expansion of the network by establishing connections with potential new employers.
  1. Follow-up on the trainees:
  • Utilize various channels to receive continuous feedback over the 12 months and beyond, taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Visit trainees, recording performance and progress during their internships.
  • Coordinate with trainers/employers to collect data during internship implementation (employment conditions, trainee performance, feedback, etc.).
  1. Reporting and other admin tasks:
  • Conduct regular follow-up calls and update the database accordingly.
  • Remain available for trainees requiring support for employment or guidance.
  • Provide weekly reports on activities (Career Sessions, Follow-up, Market, challenges).
  • Submit accurate monthly placement reports.
  • Collect and draft success stories.
  • Conduct warehouse activities.
  • Assist in the signature of certificates.
  • Prepare and facilitate the transportation exercise for trainees during internships.
  • Actively participate in events and ceremonies.
  • Assist the team as needed and as requested by the senior placement coordinator.
  1. Implementation of Community Action.
  • Coordinate with trainees and trainers.
  • Prepare contracts and time sheets.
  • Commit to recommendations and workload supervised by the senior placement.

 

PROFILE 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, business administration, or relevant fields.

Experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a public or civil society organization.
  • Previous experience in the social domain is preferred, preferably in vocational training, employability, and vocational education.
  • Working experience in a multicultural context.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Arabic (oral/written) is mandatory.
  • Very good oral and writing skills in English is mandatory, French is a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Understanding and/or passion for employability and vocational training issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective representation of trainers and beneficiaries, and positive interaction with disadvantaged young people.

 Qualities: 

  • Autonomy, dynamism, force of proposition, proactivity, responsiveness, and flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to manage intercultural relations.
  • Sense of organization, human relations, and teamwork.

CONDITIONS

Under the responsibility of the senior placement officer

Position dates: From January 2024 for 12 months, renewable.

Remuneration: 1300 – 1800 USD
